Blackalicious
Matatus are public transportation vehicles here in Kenya. They seat about 14 people (legally) and swarm about the roads like drunken mosquitoes. Although these vans are usually very beat up, there is one aspect that never is lacking–the paint job or lettering on the outside. Every matatu will have a word or phrase or drawn picture or even a printed decal on the back window, side windows, front bumper, back bumper, side doors, and even windshield. Yes, these little vehicles are quite a sight to behold.
Today, as I drove students to the airport for their Easter break, the most memorable matatu I saw was black and simply said “blackalicious” in cursive letters.
Being a logophile, I had to share that with you. Try to use blackalicious today in a conversation. I will too.
