Something for your wish list

November 29, 2009

The questions are coming…”What can I get you for Christmas?” If you’re interested in missions, why not check out a book by a missionary about missions? Add it to your wish list on Amazon. It’s also available on Kindle if you prefer the digital format.

All That You Can’t Leave Behind

Lifetime Original movies

November 27, 2009

Well, I don’t actually watch the channel (honest I don’t!) but we heard a speaker who had a movie made about her life by Lifetime. Liz Murray said…

“Choose a side: resentment or gratitude.”

Big room speaker Reggie Joiner

Reggie Joiner, a main speaker at National Youth Workers Convention in Cincinatti, said we need to create bridges between parents and youth. Criticizing parents or trying to take their place of importance is never good for kids. He said this cool phrase I want to memorize and recite to parents/kids in the midst of conflict.

“Your relationship with your parent/teen is more important than it feels right now. Don’t disengage.”

From his book Heaven:

“Our belief that Heaven will be boring betrays a heresy–that God is boring.”

Jon Acuff spoke at National Youth Workers Convention in Cincinatti last week. He’s the author of the hilarious blog Stuff Christians Like. Here was a rather poetic musing by him about using humor in our sermons to kids.

“It’s easier to scan the clouds for ideas than to chum the water for sharks.”
